Cake
Topping
Blend oil. Sugar & eggs: add vanilla, nuts & apples.
Stir in remaining. Pour into greased & floured 9x13 pan. Sprinkle with topping.
Bake @350 for 35-50 min.
Served with whipped cream.
Put raisins in saucepan, cover with water, bring to boil and cook for 10-12 minutes. Drain, cover and set aside.
Cream margarine, sugar and eggs together. Sift dry ingredients together and add to the creamed mixture. Fold in raisins and walnuts. Batter will be very thick. Spread into a 9x13x2 pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes or until test done. Cut into squares while warm.
I sprinkle sugar over bars when they come out of the oven. I do not use walnuts.
(from Wally’s Mother years ago)
Prepare gingerbread mix as directed--pour into 9" square pan. Mix the brown sugar, flour, melted butter, pecans and cinnamon well -- and sprinkle over the batter. Bake as pkg. directs. Could take a bit longer. Serve (best slightly warm) with whipped cream--1/2 pt. heavy cream or whipping cream, 1 1/2 tblsp. sugar (+/-), 3/4 tsp. vanilla--beat the cream-- gradually add the sugar and when almost whipped add the vanilla and blend. I usually add a tad of unflavored gelatin--keeps the consistency or use prepared!!
